Thanksgiving with the Homers

It was our turn to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with my family this year. We had our Thanksgiving feast at Carolyn and Doug's home (my aunt and uncle). The food was so good it makes my mouth water thinking about it. We always follow up the feast with either a game of football or ultimate frizbee. This year it was frizbee.

Here is Hannah watching her parents' team lose. Somehow our team ended up with 2 pregnant ladies and one post pregnant lady (me) who is still getting back into shape:)

After the frizbee game we were ready for more yummy food. It is a tradition for all of the grandkids to build a log cabin out of pie crust and whipped cream and then eat it along with the pies.

My favorite tradition comes the day after Thanksgiving when we head down to Richfield (where my mom grew up) and search for the perfect Christmas tree in the mountains there.  Jake and I saw this Santa as we were driving through Richfield and thought it would be fun to take a picture of him with Hannah. We decided that this Santa was a little scarry looking. He needed to lose the glasses.

Hannah did pretty well hiking all over the mountain strapped to Jake in her carrier. The only mishap was when she got so excited about finding our tree that she had a blow out. Jake was a little nervous about what we might find when we unstrapped Hannah. (we brought a change of clothes for her, but not for Jake) Luckily we had bundled Hannah up in enough layers that she only blew through the first two (lucky for Jake).

Here we are with our tree before we cut it down.

Here it is after.

We had Rice Krispie treats and hot chocolate after everyone found their trees. We forgot to bring cups, so we did some improvising.

We ended the weekend festivities with the BYU vs Utah game. We went to my sister Heather's house and watched it with some of my family. Hannah and her cousins, Griffin and Weston, faithfully cheered for their Cougars.

Sounds like a fun holiday! I think I have participated at least once in all of your family traditions (except the pie log cabin). I love your family!!
